Wetland Ecologist – Midwest and Great Lakes States
Orbis Environmental Consulting is seeking a Wetland Ecologist interested in conducting
wetland delineation surveys throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes states. Orbis is a
growing environmental consulting company that values responsible resource
management of important ecological and cultural resources to meet the needs of a
modern world.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Conduct wetland identification, delineation, and functional assessment
investigations in accordance with the USACE Manual and Regional Supplements
Complete habitat, plant, and rare, threatened, and endangered species surveys
Complete plant inventories for floristic quality assessment (FQA) in wetlands
when required
Basic Requirements:









A minimum of three years professional ecological or biological experience
Experience with the flora of the Midwest and Great Lakes states
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in a variety of locations and conditions
Clear and professional communication skills
Ability to use GPS units to document field data
Familiarity with Section 401/404 Clean Water Act Permits
Familiarity with the Cowardin classification system
Valid driver's license
Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
Preferred Requirements:





Strong plant identification skills
Experience conducting monitoring of mitigation sites
Experience completing Section 401/404 Clean Water Act Permits and associated
mitigation plans
Experience coordinating permitting and mitigation with USACE and state agency
representatives
Experience with GIS software
· Salary is commensurate with experience. Projects may occur throughout the
Midwest and Great Lakes states, and options are available for your base location. The
position is flexible and can range seasonally to full time depending on applicant’s
abilities, and work load preference.
