It supplements the Toi Whakairo and Whakaraupapa Whakairo unit standards. People credited with this unit standard are able to recall aoteatea whakairo and identify the function of aoteatea. Evidence requirements 2.1 Aoteatea is analysed to determine the traditional Māori cultural codes for patterns of behaviour that concur with hapū or iwi traditions. Range 2.2 Aoteatea is analysed to determine the origin of Māori art that concurs with hapū or iwi traditions. Range 2.3 Rua, Tangaroa, Whiro, Maui, Rata, Tinirau. Aoteatea is analysed to understand the nature of natural phenomena in the traditional Māori world that concur with hapū or iwi traditions. Range 2.5 Rua, Tangaroa, Whiro, Maui, Rata, Tinirau. Aoteatea is analysed to determine the traditional Māori cultural and artistic conventions relative to Māori art practice that concurs with hapū or iwi traditions.
