It supplements the Toi Whakairo and Whakaraupapa Whakairo unit standards. People credited with this unit standard are able to: observe spiritual beliefs, practice personal responsibilities; and observe and examine carver’s responsibilities. Evidence requirements 1.1 Rites of access associated with Māori art practice are observed by employing ritual procedure that accords with hapū or iwi spiritual observance. Sanctions associated with Māori art practice are observed by employing ritual procedure that accords with hapū or iwi spiritual observance. Range access, restriction, protection. Outcome 2 Practice personal responsibilities. Evidence requirements 2.1 Personal ethics are practised by assuming personal responsibility for Māori art practice that accords with hapū or iwi expectations. Range 2.2 mauri, mana, tapu and noa, tuakana and teina, marae tuturu, whare hui huinga. Respect for nature is practised by assuming responsibility for resource perpetuation that accords with hapū or iwi traditions and the Resource Management Act 1991 and any subsequent amendments. Outcome 3 Observe and examine responsibilities of a carver. Evidence requirements 3.1 Carver's responsibility is examined to determine obligations that accord with whanaungatanga.
