People credited with this unit standard are able to identify and confirm customer job requirements from supplied documents, drawings, and supervisor instructions; and meet job requirements using prepared designs and documentation. This unit standard is expiring 2 Definitions RAC systems refers to commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems with items such as: refrigeration equipment as found in retail food outlets, truck and shipping-container refrigeration, horticultural cool room refrigeration, controlled atmosphere fruit stores; and packaged or split air conditioning equipment as found in commercial buildings and computer rooms. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Identify and confirm customer job requirements from supplied documents, drawings, and supervisor instructions. Evidence requirements 1.1 Customer requirements and benefits sought are identified, evaluated, and quantified. 1.2 Customers’ cost limitations are identified. 1.3 Site characteristics that may affect or limit design options are investigated. 1.4 System specifications needed to meet job requirements are identified. Range may include but is not limited to – type of product stored, capacities, volumes, electrical requirements, other design parameters. 1.5 Implications, benefits, and estimated costs of at least two alternative approaches are presented in accordance with organisational procedures. 1.6 Documentation is produced in accordance with organisational procedures. Evidence requirements 2.1 Design concepts and schedules are obtained and complied with. 2.2 Sketches and design applications are obtained and complied with. 2.3 The work of associated tradespeople is identified and reported. 2.4 Project plans that guide assembly, installation, and/or commissioning of systems are confirmed and actioned.
