Prepare and plot track.
performance criteria

Plotted track maintains the vessel’s safety from known hazards throughout the
passage and avoids potential dangers with other traffic.
1.2
Hazards to navigation are identified, and prepared track incorporates safety
distances from identified hazards.
1.3
Planned tracks are plotted on the correct chart, and the calculation of compass
bearings incorporates compass deviations and variations.
1.4
Planned tracks incorporate an awareness of current and predicted weather and
sea conditions, and their combined impact on the vessel’s capabilities and limits
of seaworthiness.
1.5
Tracks are planned with consideration of changes to nautical charts and
publications, and published details of nautical activities or events likely to affect
the passage.
1.6
Altered course waypoints are obtained and entered in Global Positioning
System (GPS) and/or plotter.
