Manufacturer’s instructions may include specifications, installation, handling, use and
maintenance instructions and safety data sheets.
Batter refers to an earthworks cut or wall with a sloping face.
Bench refers to an earthwork ledge.

Bulldozers are identified in terms of their components.

Bulldozer attachments are identified in terms of their functions.

components – operator equipment, tracks and track rollers,
engine, frame, transmission, power shift, direct drive and final
drives, steering clutches, brakes, under carriage, track adjusters,
idlers.
blades – straight, angling, pusher, bull;
rippers – parallelogram, hinged, swivel, shank and ripper tips;
winches and hydraulic control;
scoops – cable, hydraulic;
ground-engaging tools – rake, scraper, towed roller;
functions may include – rip, clear, push, stockpile, excavate,
winch, cut drain, cut bench, cut batter, cut to fill, trim, backfill,
push-load, scrape, lay cable, tow plant.
The fitting and removal of bulldozer attachments is described in accordance
with manufacturer’s instructions.
Range
attachments may include – blade, rippers, rake, scraper, towed
roller, winch.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body
with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from
assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
