Element 1
Demonstrate knowledge of the way the HSE Act 1992 applies to clients in a compliance
context.

Performance criteria
1.1
Compliance officers’ responsibilities are described in accordance with sections
6-20, 25, 26.
1.2
The roles of OSH personnel and compliance officers are compared in clear and
concise language.
Range
role in notification of failure to comply; enforcement; planning to
avoid harm – structures, work sites, work practices.
Element 2
Act to ensure client compliance with the HSE Act 1992 in a compliance context.
Performance criteria
2.1
Procedures are followed to ensure that the client identifies hazards and
potential hazards to contractors, employees, and the public in planning
documents.
Range
2.2
proposed work procedures, use of equipment, structures, and
work sites.
Client is advised in clear and concise written language of remedial action that
will enable compliance with the HSE Act 1992.
Range
may include but is not limited to remedial action regarding – work
procedures, use of equipment, structures, work sites.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.

Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
