This is a theoretical unit standard for people who want to
develop some specialist knowledge in cleaning a range of
surfaces.
People credited with this standard are able to demonstrate
knowledge of: types of floors with special surfaces; methods
and agents used for cleaning floors with special surfaces;
methods of sealing floors with special surfaces; and
maintenance programmes for floors with special surfaces.

Competence demonstrated during assessment against this standard must comply
with the requirements of:
Employment Relations Act 2000;
Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996;
Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992;
Resource Management Act 1991.

Definitions
Resilient floors include wood or particle board, resin, thermoplastic, Polyvinyl chloride
(PVC), linoleum, marmoleum, rubber.
Non-resilient floors include concrete, granolithic, terrazzo, marble, brick, stone,
quarry tile, asphalt, slate, ceramic tiles.

Outcome 1
Demonstrate knowledge of types of floors with special surfaces.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Non-resilient surfaces are identified according to their composition.

Maintenance requirements for non-resilient floors are described in terms of

before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses

NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
