Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to: interpret job
requirements from supplied data; select and check material for
cutting; select and set up manually operated saws for cutting
wall frames and roof trusses; measure and mark material for
cutting wall frames and roof trusses; cut and produce wall
frame and roof truss components; and monitor and functionally
maintain manually operated saws for cutting wall frames and
roof trusses.

Definitions
Controlled environment refers to a manufacturing environment within which trade
skills are applied.
Functional maintenance refers to company or manufacturer-specified, general, dayto-day tasks performed by a machine or tool operator to keep the machine or tool in
working order.
Manually operated saws refers to hand-held power operated saws and hand-held
non-powered saws.
Shop drawings refers to the set of drawings associated with a building project to be
made in a controlled environment, and can include plans, elevations, sections, details
or any other drawings that give information about the project.
Workplace practice refers to the documented procedures specific to a workplace
which set out the standard and required practices of that workplace.

Credit for this unit standard indicates compliance with industry practice. Industry
practice refers to the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills that reflect the
productivity, uniformity, finish quality, and material economies currently accepted
within industry.

accordance with workplace practice.
