Element 1
Demonstrate knowledge of vessel construction drawings.
Performance criteria
1.1
Types of vessel construction drawings are identified in terms of their use and
purpose.
Range
1.2

drawings, detail drawings.
Components of vessel construction drawings are identified in terms of their
relationship to the drawing.
Range
components could include but are not limited to – lines, profile,
renderings, general arrangements, sections, sail plan, structural
arrangements, systems schematic, mechanical arrangements,
working detail, scale.
1.3
Drawings and dimensions of critical measurements are interpreted to scale, with
imperial and metric conversions.
1.4
Process for approving vessel construction drawings is described in terms of
client approval and industry requirements.
Range
industry requirements could include but are not limited to – class,
classification, currency of drawing, role of surveyor, importance of
drawing status.
Element 2
Produce freehand sketches of vessels and/or vessel components.
Performance criteria
2.1
Vessel and/or component to be sketched is identified and measured to meet job
requirements.

Sketches produced communicate job requirements.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
