Purpose
This unit standard is for people who work in a motorsport environment either
in a voluntary capacity or in paid employment. People credited with this unit
standard are able to: meet motorsport team employment requirements; carry
out daily work activities in a motorsport environment; and contribute to a
productive motorsport team environment.

Definitions
Company requirements refer to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – company specifications and
procedures, work instructions, manufacturer specifications, product quality
specifications, and legislative requirements.
Daily work activities in a motorsport environment may include working in a voluntary
capacity outside of normal hours of employment, while still being required to meet
conditions of employment.

For this unit standard, it is essential that the practical assessment evidence is
obtained in a motorsport team environment at a workplace or at a temporary
worksite.

The NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation Inc acknowledges the assistance
provided by the Australian Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) in
permitting their competency unit to be used as the basis for this unit standard. This
unit standard is based on the unit of competency AURM2400A Operate in a
motorsport environment.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Meet motorsport team employment requirements.
Performance criteria
1.1
The importance of working within a team environment in a motorsport team is
identified in accordance with company requirements.
Range
1.2
Team sponsorship requirements are followed in accordance with company
requirements.
Range
1.3
contribution to the overall effectiveness of the team, flexibility of
paid and voluntary hours, meeting deadlines, working under
pressure and in different situations and time requirements.
general appearance, equipment and clothing branding,
sponsorship protocol, communication with the public, personal
conduct inside and outside of working hours, presenting to
sponsors.
Team member roles and responsibilities within the company are identified in
accordance with company requirements and motorsport regulations.

officials.
Element 2
Carry out daily work activities in a motorsport environment.
Performance criteria
2.1
Own work role and responsibilities are obtained from the team leader in
accordance with company requirements.

2.2
responsibilities include but are not limited to – contribution to the
team, company requirements, team sponsor requirements,
awareness of health issues in a motorsport environment, safety.
Safe working practices in a motorsport environment are carried out in
accordance with legislative requirements and motorsport regulations.

personal safety including wearing of protective clothing and
equipment appropriate for the motorsport environment, safety of
fellow workers and public, equipment safety.
2.3
Individual tasks are prioritised and completed to company standards and within
designated timeframes in accordance with company requirements.
2.4
Personal workspace is kept in an organised, clean, safe, and secure condition
in accordance with company and legislative requirements, and motorsport
regulations.
2.5
Tools and equipment are put away in designated places after use in accordance
with company requirements.
Element 3
Contribute to a productive motorsport team environment.
Performance criteria
3.1
Work objectives are altered in accordance with variances occurring within the
team’s designated requirements and schedules.
Range
includes but is not limited to – gaining or giving assistance when
difficulties arise; changing workload when unforeseen
circumstances or developments occur; flexibility to work on a wide
variance of processes, skill demands, and responsibility.
3.2
Variations in the quality of components and/or work practices from company
requirements are identified and reported to the team leader.
3.3
Team communication requirements are met by actively participating in
accordance with company requirements.
Range
giving and receiving constructive feedback, clarification of
instructions, giving reports verbally or in writing, talking assertively
and passively depending on situation.

Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.

Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations
wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for
tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
