They may refer to manuals, codes of practice, manufacturer’s instructions, or policy statements. Job specifications may include written and oral direction for specific tasks, standard procedures documented in company quality manuals, and technical procedures for specific materials or equipment. Site safety plan refers to the documented safety plan for the site required by law to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 and its subsequent amendments. Evidence requirements 1.1 Visual inspection of steel substrate verifies that surface is cleaned to near white classification (Class 2 ½). 1.2 Inspection verifies that the surface profile of a non-steel substrate meets job specifications. 1.3 Surface is checked for oil, grease, and other contamination, and is accepted or rejected in accordance with company procedures. Outcome 2 Supervise preparations for application of metallic protective coatings. Evidence requirements 2.1 Supervision ensures that personal protective equipment is fitted and worn in accordance with site safety plan, manufacturer’s instructions, and Safety Data Sheets. 2.2 Supervision ensures that wire type and condition are confirmed as being in accordance with job specifications and product label. 2.3 Supervision ensures that wire is loaded into flame or arc gun in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. 2.4 Supervision ensures that the coating application machine is started and adjusted in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Outcome 3 Supervise the application of metalspray. Range one of – zinc, zinc-aluminium pre-alloy, zinc-aluminium pseudo-alloy, aluminium, aluminium-magnesium alloy. Evidence requirements 3.1 Film thickness is confirmed as meeting job specifications. 3.2 Supervision ensures that spray test coupon results are within job specifications. Range test coupon is to measure at least 50mm x 120mm x 1.2mm. Outcome 4 Supervise the maintenance of spray equipment. Evidence requirements 4.1 Supervision ensures that equipment is checked for maintenance, and is subsequently repaired or reported for repair in accordance with company procedures. 4.2 Supervision ensures that spray equipment is cleaned, shut down, and stored in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and company procedures. Outcome 5 Describe the rectification of metallic coating problems. Evidence requirements 5.1 Metallic coating problems are described in terms of rectifying flaws that occur during machine preparation. Range 5.2 three flaws.
