Explanatory notes

1 Sport teams include both individual and team sports; team officials include coaches, managers, and medical, support and administrative personnel. A team may be one individual or a group of individuals.

2 Legislation and regulations relevant to this unit standard include Human Rights Act,

1993; New Zealand Bill of Rights Act, 1992.

Outcome 2

Determine the rights of individuals within the sport selection process.

Evidence requirements

2.1 Laws are identified relating to the rights of individuals.

Range Human Rights Act, Bill of Rights Act, code of conduct of the sport, official documents within the sport as they relate to competitors.

2.2 Interpretations of the laws are explained in terms of their application to the sport selection process.

Outcome 3

Develop policies for the appointment of team selectors, team officials, and team members.

Evidence requirements

3.1 Selection procedures are developed to meet the requirements of the sport club or organisation.

Range procedures include timeframes, procedure for notification of selections, appeals grounds and procedures.

3.2 Contractual obligations are specified for selected individuals according to the requirements of the sport club or organisation.

3.3 Selection policies are developed and publicised according to the requirements of the sport club or organisation.

3.4 Selection procedures maintain the rights of individuals within the selection process and comply with the identified laws .
