The compulsory section focuses on the organisational and technical skills required for casino surveillance at the supervisory level. The elective section allows flexibility for the candidate to build up a portfolio of relevant skills, including human development, law and security, as well as higher level casino surveillance management skills. Special Notes To be admitted to a programme preparing for this Certificate the candidate must complete the National Certificate in Casino Surveillance (Level 4) [Ref: 0406] or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills. To qualify to work in casino surveillance a person must hold a Certificate of Approval issued by the Department of Internal Affairs. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. Changes to content Standard 12794 was removed from the compulsory section and standards 9737, 11532, 11541, 11546 and 11550 were removed from the elective section. Standards 1984 and 1985 were removed from the compulsory section and replaced by standards 18336 and 16342 respectively. Standard 12797 was added to the compulsory section and standards 12784, 12798, 12799, 23396, 23397, 25682, 25685, 25689-25691 were added to the elective section. People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of this qualification with credit for standards 1984 and 12794 may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 2. People without credit for either of the standards listed above must transfer to version 2. People choosing to complete version 1 must gain credit for standard 1985 by December 2009. This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.
