APPENDIX A
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE STANDING RULES OF
THE PENN STATE BERKS SENATE
October 16, 2006
The Executive Committee of the Penn State Berks Senate does hereby propose that the following
Amendment to the Standing Rules of the Penn State Berks Senate (duly ratified on Tuesday,
May 2, 2006) be duly approved and ratified by the Penn State Berks Senate.
AMENDMENT SR_2006_01:
Part (a) of Article VI, Section 5, of the Standing Rules of the Penn State Berks Senate (duly
ratified on Tuesday, May 2, 2006) is hereby amended to include the addition of the
Planning, Research, and Assessment Officer as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the
Strategic Planning and Budget Committee. Article VI, Section 5, Part (a) of the Standing
Rules of the Penn State Berks Senate shall now read as follows:
(a) Membership:
1. One (1) faculty from each division;
2. Campus Chief Financial Officer or representative, ex officio, non-voting;
3. Planning, Research, and Assessment Officer, ex officio, non-voting;
4. One (1) student, appointed by SGA officers.
Background and Rationale
It is the fixed opinion of the Executive Committee of the Penn State Berks Senate that the
information, insight, and expertise of the Planning, Research, and Assessment Officer would
immeasurably aid the Strategic Planning and Budget Committee of the Penn State Berks Senate
in the execution and completion of its charges. In addition, the Executive Committee also
anticipates that the response time of the Senate with regard to Strategic and Budget matters will
be enhanced by the presence of the Planning, Research, and Assessment Officer. Thus, the
addition of the Planning, Research, and Assessment Officer as an ex officio, non-voting member
of this committee would be mutually beneficial to all members of the Penn State Berks Campus.
