Date new version published September 2013 Planned review date December 2017 Summary The review of this unit standard took place within the current sector review of Hairdressing and Barbering qualifications that began in 2011. The unit standard content was developed and endorsed by members of the Barbering Qualifications’ Advisory and Governance Group in parallel with the development of the Application for Approval of the new barbering qualifications. The changes to the unit standard reflect the skills and knowledge required by stakeholders for inclusion in a new Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in commercial barbering. In addition, three new unit standards were developed to support the requirements of the qualification outcomes. Main changes to standard 10650 Title and content were updated and expanded to include running a barber chair in a commercial salon. Credits were increased to reflect the increased content and workload due to the additional requirement relating to the running of a barber chair. Entry information was updated. Explanatory notes were updated for consistency with more recently listed unit standards. Last dates for assessments of the superseded versions of the standard were specified.
