Summary
This review was undertaken as part of a review of Fire and Rescue Services qualifications.
Amendments to this unit standard were based on comments received from the industry as
a result of an extensive consultation and feedback process. Review teams, comprising
industry representatives and the Fire and Rescue Service Industry Training Organisation’s
Industry Technical Advisory Group, considered the comments and endorsed the changes
that were made.
The focus of the review was on quality improvement and confirmation that the
classification, level, and credit values of the replacement unit standards were consistent
with their content and purpose. The review teams took into consideration changes to
procedures and technology applicable to the unit standards before recommending and
endorsing the changes.
Main changes
 Standard 3331 was replaced by standards 27287 and 27288. This was to allow fire and
rescue personnel who did not come in contact with large aircraft to have their
knowledge and skills with small aircraft recognised.
 Titles, outcomes, evidence requirements, range statements, and explanatory notes
were updated to reflect the present needs of the fire and rescue services industry.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2013
