Describe the problem to be addressed, including its continuing significance for
Catholic educational ministries:
Describe the goals/objectives of your project. What new knowledge do you expect to
contribute to educational research for the long-term success and sustainability of
our Catholic schools and religious education programs?
What is the anticipated value of your project for educators in the Archdiocese of St.
Paul and Minneapolis?
Explain where your proposed project fits into the larger body of research already
available on this topic. Include a select annotated bibliography.
Provide a description of the research methodologies that you intend to employ and
an explanation of their appropriateness.
Note: If you plan to use human subjects, you must obtain approval from the
University of St. Thomas’ Institutional Review Board (IRB). Go to
http://www.stthomas.edu/irb/ for application forms and an explanation of
the approval process. Include the IRB approval letter with your application.
Describe your project plan, including the timeline for completion and the manner in
which you intend to disseminate the results of your research. If you intend to
request renewal(s) of this award, explain your plan for each award period.
Awardees are expected to share the results of their research with Archdiocesan
educators and/or the national community of Catholic educators in at least two of the
following venues: a local professional development workshop, a regional or national
conference paper, an essay disseminated through the Murray Institute, an article
submitted to a professional journal or a book manuscript. What venues do you plan
to use? Explain.
Has this project proposal already been evaluated by scholars in the field? If so,
describe the venue (e.g., dissertation review board) and the outcome of the
evaluation. Provide appropriate documentation.

Funding will be released at the conclusion of the award period, after the Murray
Institute Faculty Committee has received a report of satisfactory progress on the
project and receipts for reimbursement, if applicable.
Renewal requests can be made by submitting a letter that outlines the details of
your new request, including the work plan and timeline for the renewal period and
the amount of funding needed. Refer to the original application as appropriate. If the
project evolves in a direction that is different from the original application, we ask
that you also submit an updated application.
