 Consists of 6 sections of differing heights.
 Declared a historic place in 2002.

 Separate the spaces by function.
 Focus on the children’s area, all other spaces are support.
 Create a comfortable atmosphere for the children to spend the day in.
 Possible Ideas: Playful, Safe
 Make use of the large windows to introduce daylighting to the space.
 1.5 Watts per square foot allowed.
 CCT 5000 to match daylight in space.

 Separate the spaces.
Linear fluorescents in circulation spaces leading toward subspaces.
 Atmosphere Ideas.
 Suspend ceiling in children’s area for a more enclosed “safe”
space.
 Create multi-level ceiling and add colored light for visual
interest.
 Daylighting concerns
 Use zoned switching to shut off lights near windows during
the daytime.

 Accent wall spaces for company logo and decorative artwork.
 Maintain a small number of unique luminaires within the complex
space.

Design Solution
 Linear fluorescent’s directing customers down the stairs and into
the space upon entering.
 CFL downlights over each of the desk areas.
 Spot lamps washing ceiling along 1’6” indent in lower section.
 Linear wall-washers along wall in lower section and on the angled
portion of the 2-story area.
 CCT of 5000K to mimic daylight and make the lobby appear more
spacious.
