Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:08 p.m.
II.
Approval of Minutes
Minutes of the December 14th meeting were approved.
III.
Announcement
Hedy Carpenter announced that the 15h Annual Student Research and Creative
Works Symposium would be on Friday, February 18th. She reported that 140
students are participating. She also reported that 60 faculty have volunteered
to judge the presentations. The overall event schedule and oral session
schedule are posted on the Graduate Studies website.
IV.
Curriculum Assignments and Schedule
The committee received curriculum from eight colleges. Consistent with GSC
practices, two members were assigned to lead the review and discussion of
curriculum from each of the colleges. Additionally, the month/meeting of the
review was determined. Following is a listing of the colleges, GSC
representatives, and month of review.

Curriculum Review
A. College of Engineering and Computer Science
Electrical and Computer Engineering
1. Course modification proposal in ECE 637-Pattern Recognition to change
the course description was approved.

B. College of Science and Mathematics
Biology
1. Course modification proposal in BIOL 311/L-Comparative Anatomy and
Lab to change course description, subject abbreviation number, and requisites
was approved with the following caveat:
 Needs library consultation.
2. New course proposal in BIOL 433/L-Biology of Marine Tetrapods was
approved.
VIII. Discussion Item
Elizabeth Adams presented and discussed drafts of the revised Internship
Policy and Frequently Asked Questions internship document. She reviewed
the two major changes that were added to the revised policy and reported that
the rest of the policy has remained the same. The GSC and the associate
deans suggested additional revisions to the policy. Adams will email the GSC
updated drafts of the revised internship policy and the FAQ document so that
the committee will vote on the revised policy at the March meeting.
