Tennakoon Ms. Amara Peeris Absent - Prof. Uma Coomaraswamy Ms. Jezima Ismail chaired the meeting. The Minutes of the previous meeting held on 10th December 2004 were confirmed unanimously. CERTIFICATE COURSE Certificate Course to be conducted by SLIDA and the Open University was discussed. As Prof. Uma Coomaraswamy was not present it was decided to send a letter requesting her about the present position. If she is unable to obtain approval from the University to conduct the programme in collaboration with SLIDA, it was decided to conduct the programme only by SLIDA. However it was decided to request her to send a nominee who could take decisions on behalf of the Open University whenever she is unable to attend the CAG meetings. Mr. Tennakoon to coordinate with the Open University in this regard and to obtain the views of the Open University at an early date. Mr. Tennakoon also informed that the comprehensive document of the modules will be ready and the course could be conducted in the first week of March 2005. The Group decided that the programme could commence from 7th March 2005 It was also decided to call leaders of the NGO coalition on the same day and to brief them about the CAG activities and the certificate course. A Power Point presentation of the Comprehensive plan will be organized for that day. 1 Details of the presentation to be worked out. Seela to discuss with Mr. Tennakoon and finalise the list of participants for the programme, At least 30 to be called. The Orientation programme will be held for five days at SLIDA starting from 7 th of March 2005. The c ourse proper will commence on the following Friday (18th March) and will continue for six months (on Fridays only) at the same venue. Edirimanne It was also discussed how the participants who are not competent in English could be assisted by SLIDA when conducting the Certificate course. To overcome this situation it was decided that whenever examinations are held the questions to be given in all three languages. Note prepared on Political Participation on Women by the sub committee members comprsing of Ranjini, Indrani I and Indrani S was circulated. Any comments or observations on the paper to 3 be sent to Seela by Monday 7th February. If no comments are received by that date, action to be initiated to send the paper to the relevant sub committee members comprising of the Ministers. Hon. John Seneviratne, Hon. Dew Gunasekera, Hon Sumedha Jayasena and Hon Janaka Bandara Tennakone. Model Villages It was observed that upto now the funds have not been received (US$ 500 per organization) to enhance the activities of the model villages connected to GROW 1 project. Prof. Jayaweera informed that Cenwor has received 1500 dollars to be utilized for the Tsunami victims. It was decided to give US $500 out of that money to MWRAF to be utilized in the East. It was noted that as all the organizations are heavily involved in the tsunami relief activities most of the other work has been temporarily curtailed , The next meeting will be held on 25th February at SLIDA at 9.30 a.m. This meeting is important as the Certificate course will commence from 7th March and the finalisation of the course as well as other arrangements could be discussed by the CAG members at the meeting.
