MINUTES OF THE CORE ADVISORY GROUP (CAG)
HELD ON 23rd SEPTEMBER 2005 AT SLIDA AT 10.00 A.M

Ms. Jezima Ismail chaired the meeting.
1. Confirmation of the Minutes - The Minutes of the previous meeting held on 1st
August 2005 was confirmed unanimously.
2. Matters arising out of the Minutes –
6. Model Village at Udayapuram
Ms. Ismail said that there are serious problems at Udayapuram which had to be
discussed with those involved and once its done will come to a decision.
7. Certificate Course through the Distance Mode by the - OUSL
To await a report from Prof. Coomaraswamy on her return to the country.
It was agreed to send letters to both Presidential candidates informing them of the
importance of getting women’s political participation.
A campaign to be launched to educate the voters of the importance to identify the best
candidate to vote.
Materials on Governance, Leadership etc. will be prepared by Women and Media as they
have got donor funds for this purpose.
It was also mentioned to discuss about the importance of conducting Free and Fair
elections at every level.
The members felt that the women’s manifesto should be updated with additional
information on tsunami as this is a topic of national interest.
It was decided to have a meeting at Mrs. Ismail’s residence on
Saturday 1st October at 2 p.m. to discuss what issues to be brought to the notice of the

Presidential Candidates. The delegation will be called the United Women’s Forum which
will mainly focus on encouraging women to participate in politics.
Mr. Tennakoon informed that the 2nd phase of the 1st Diploma will commence on 30th
September 2005. Only 4 people have not qualified to be included in the second phase.
Application forms with the brochures were given to all the CAG members and was
informed to get many applications as possible.
As the date of the video conference is on the 17th of November 2005 which coincides
with the Presidential election scheduled to be held on the same day, Jaya to be informed
to get a fresh date and keep the CAG members informed.
The next CAG meeting will be held on 28th October at 3 p.m. at SLIDA.
