in animated scenes of stanzas from “Upon the Burning of Our
House”.

Read and discuss the poem. Analyze the poetic language used, to
develop ideas of how to depict the action.

Students create original scenes “summarizing” the assigned stanza.

Exit Slip closure sheet. Students answer 3-5 questions on wksht. to
indicate understanding/additional questions.

Additional time may be given to modify or enhance scenes.

Students will share their scenes with the class, using the SmartBoard
to project their work.

Diversity
Students will discuss the cultural aspects of the poem in a Socratic
seminar, after reading additional materials (2) about Puritans and
their society.

The Alice scenes will be available for viewing on the school’s Open
House Night.
