SCOPE This Procedure applies to all employees charged with committing University money. III. PROCEDURE University employees shall maintain high ethical procurement standards in all dealings with contractors and suppliers by: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Giving first consideration to the objectives and Procedure of the University, including the Employee Handbook. Striving to obtain the maximum value for each dollar of expenditure. Declining personal gifts and gratuities, and by not seeking items for personal gain. Granting all competitive suppliers equal consideration insofar as state and federal statutes permit. Conducting business with potential and current suppliers in an atmosphere of good faith, devoid of intentional misrepresentation. Purchasing practices will not be influenced by Alumni or Donor status. Demanding honest sales representation whether offered through the medium of a verbal or written statement, an advertisement, or a sample of the product. Receiving consent of originator of proprietary ideas and designs before using them for competitive purchasing purposes. 8. Making every reasonable effort to negotiate an equitable and mutually agreeable settlement, arbitration or review by a third party for review, insofar as Procedure of the University permits. 9. Cooperating with trade, industrial, and professional associations, and with governmental and private agencies for the purposes of promoting and developing sound business methods. 10. Fostering fair, ethical, and legal trade practices.
