Thank you for your interest in serving on the Board of the Friends of The Gardens on Spring Creek.
The Friends is the non-profit fundraising arm of the Gardens. We share the vision of the Gardens to
become a world-class botanic garden that is community oriented, educational, experiential, and
sustainable. We support its mission to improve the lives of people and foster environmental stewardship
through horticulture. Our mission is to cultivate a world-class botanic garden through fundraising and
advocacy. Our board members must be willing to support our fundraising efforts and have a passion for
the Gardens, its mission and vision.

3. Are you willing to commit to the following requirements?




Become a member of The Friends. Refer to the membership brochure for details.
Provide a financial donation to The Friends of an amount that is significant and meaningful to me.
Note that grant requests typically require all board members to financially donate to The Friends.
Buy two tickets to one of our fundraising events and sell four additional tickets to the event.
Events currently cost between $40 and $75 a ticket depending on the event you choose.
Aggressively work to sign up one new corporate sponsor every year.
4. What is your experience in advocacy (ability to influence public-policy and resource allocation)? Please
provide example(s).
5. You must dedicate five to ten hours a month to prepare for, and attend quarterly board meetings, committee
meetings and special events (typically three per year) for a board term of 3 years? Can you commit to this
requirement?
6. Describe any other work experience that may be relevant to the board (e.g., fundraising and/or advocacy). You
