Introduction
I would have to classify myself as a non-writer. I
believe I don’t have the frame of mind that a
writer must have to write. I believe that I have
improved my writing skills during this course
though. I have enjoyed this class and it showed
me what I could write what I couldn’t, and what I
need to work on.

objectives to follow for this course, and also sets goals

How to cite sources correctly
We learned the Modern Language Association
(MLA) style. MLA is a brief parenthetical citation
in the text, it refers to the works cited page at the
end of the paper.

Narration
A narration essay, is a story that has a point. I want
to organize it so that the events come in
chronological order. I also want to explain what
happened, when, and where. This will give the
reader the feeling he/she was involved.
I know the essential features of a
good thesis statement
A thesis statement is the opener for a paper. It
must be a statement from which the essay
follows. It also needs to capture the audience’s
attention so they keep on reading.
In 1937 the U.S. banded the production of industrial
hemp, by the Prohibition Act of 1937. The laws
governing the production of hemp in the U.S. must
be changed. Hemp should be grown in the U.S..
Expressing my Writing
Paper/pencil
This is a way to express my feeling or thoughts on
paper, that everybody can use.
PowerPoint
Using visuals brings out another aspect of my
writing. It also helps the revision process by not
have to rewrite drafts.
How to write Introductions
Use a story
A story shows the reader something that they can
grip and relate to.
Quote/statistics
Quotes and statistics is used to grab the readers
attention by focusing on the main point.
Writing Skill / Levels 1 & 2
Level One:
Expresses clearly thoughts and ideas in informal writing contexts.
Composes structurally correct sentences in Standard American
English.
Generates well-developed, coherent paragraphs.
Level Two:
Processes information to produce writing that clearly and accurately
summarizes and/or reports.
Writes, well-developed, focused essays.
Searches for information and inserts research appropriately.
Conclusion
I believe I have the strengths of writing correct sentences,
coherent paragraphs, inserting information, and
summarizing reports. I could always start out well in essays
but if I kept them focused they always ended up to short. I
could see the ideas in my head but when they came out on
paper, it sounded different and didn’t make to much since.
Goals for Comp 2
To learn how to extend my ideas on paper.
To make my ideas as clear on paper as they are in my head.
