Materials Needed: “good” paper, “bad” paragraph for class revision, “bad” paper for individual practice III. Procedures Teacher 1. Teacher will ask why revision is necessary 2. Teacher will hand out copy of “good” paper 3. Teacher will ask what the students think of the example –are any revisions needed/what makes it good. 4. Teacher will hand out “bad” paper 5. Teacher will do the same as in 3 6. Teacher will hand out “bad” paper 2 7. Teacher will ask students to share revisions Student Est. Time 1.Student will respond with 1 min why they think revision is necessary 2. Students will read the 2min “good” paper aloud 3 mins 3 students will discuss points of the paper. 4. Students will read “bad paper 5. Student will respond with how this one can be improved 6. Students will revise this paper on their own. 7. Students are able to revise the “bad” paragraph National standards met: 4, 6 Reflection: The “good” paper part did not go how I thought it would. Some of the students didn’t think the writing was good. I just turned it around then to prove that everyone needs to revise, even professional writers. They were able to pick out what was good about the essay and ways to improve it. There was a lot of interaction between the class.
