DeeAnn Nevland Comp. II Update on Group Paper Topic/Thesis: Uncertified teachers; hurting the children of tomorrow. Plan of Action: I plan to go to the library to find other types of sources. I have a lot to work with, but they are all on the Internet. Sources: So far, I have found seven different sources on the Internet and there are many more out there. I am working on magazine articles and books from the library yet. Intro: Uncertified teachers; hurting the children for tomorrow. “Is an uncertified teacher with a piece of chalk really as dangerous as an unlicensed physician wielding with a scalpel?” (cited) Well, think if it this way, what if an uncertified teacher taught that surgeon? Would you still want to go to that surgeon? We need to change our policies, so that we can make getting qualified to teach a priority again. I. II. III. IV. Taking the certifiable test Arguments FOR non-certifies teaching Statistics; why we have such problems What some states have done to get more certified teachers; is it enough? Conclusion: The reality is that the number of uncertified teachers, teaching our youngsters, has grown and will only continue to grow. We need to put an end to this. How can we make excuses for teachers that get lower grades on the basic skills test then the students they teach are? Uncertified teachers are hurting our children of tomorrow. If you think they are not, I will perform a lobotomy on you and “change your mind”.
