Economics: Report of China Trip by Vivian Luen (24) Joyce Ng (26) from F.5C Introduction On 18 June,2012, our school held an exposure trip to Shenzhen, China. Our group first visited Dongguan Longchang ToyFatoryand observed the production line and laboratories of the toy factory. We had also played with the toys in the factory. Observations Case one: Venue: Production line of Dongguan Longchang Toy Factory Description: The workers are working on the production of different toys. Some of them are producing tangrams, some of them are producing toy cars. Relevant theory: Division of Labor Case two: Venue: Dongguan Brain Development System Co.Ltd Description: BDS aims to cultivate the next generation to learn interdisciplinary knowledge through its original design and product development, in order to encourage the children to explore, to create, and inspire their thinking. BDS is composed by a group that interested in the intelligent research. The photo below shows the final product produced by Dongguan Longchang Toy Factory. Relevant theory: Consumer good. The consumer goods produced by Dongguan Longchang ToyFactory(tangrams andtoy cars) are goods bought by consumers to satisfy wants. Reflection After the exposure trip, both of us are impressed by the machineries and equipments in the Dongguan Longchang Toy Factory. They have advanced technologies and laboratories to do a lot of testing and R&D (research and development). The trip provides us a channel to gain a better understanding of how a factory works and what isits production. Also, we are impressed with the rising of China and understand China's name as the World's Factory and its contribution to the world's economy. This is the very first time for us to visit a factory and inspect the production process of a factory which makes us very excited.
