Assessment Committee Meeting Report for May 15, 2007 Attendees: Robert Slabodnick, Randy Storms, Tom Prendergast, Anne Vinson, Kate Peresie Kate called and conducted the meeting. TOPIC DISCUSSION ACTION STEPS Assessment Committee Reporting to Faculty/Staff Congress The Assessment Committee reports to the Staff/Faculty Congress. The Faculty Caucus had been reviewing its responsibilities and has asked for more updates on the Committees activities. Drs. Abrams and Bushner are considering having the Committee report instead to administration. The Committee discussed this and supported the current structure due to the central role faculty has in learning outcomes assessment. The Curriculum Committee responded to the proposal with the suggestion that the core learning outcomes need only be “addressed” to be checked off, and should be placed at the end of the syllabus because “it is primarily for college use and may be confusing for students.” The Assessment Committee agreed with the use of “addressed” but disagreed with the belief that CLO’s are primarily for college use. Unfinished business – Last year, the Committee sent a proposal to the Faculty Caucus recommending that assessment of outcomes be added to all job descriptions. The Faculty Caucus planned to revisit the proposal last fall. There has been no response. OBR is conducting another Student Success Workshop June 14th. The College needs to send a team. Kate will be attending. Notify Drs. Abrams and Bushner on Committee’s stance. Course Syllabus Template Proposal Assessment in Job Descriptions OBR Student Success Workshop CAAP Update WAC/SpAC Update Computer Literacy Update All courses have completed or are planning to complete CAAP testing except ACC 260 (Jen Adkins stated she was notified to late to comply).
