Ceramics 2 - Box with Removable Lid Instructional Objectives: Students will be able to 1. Understand how to create a 3-D object using a slab built, clay ceramic method. 2. Create personal artwork using basic artistic principles such as form, space, texture, and balance. Procedure: Brief presentation with a historical variety of boxes with lids. Students will be taught the construction of a basic clay box with hollow core. Students will embellish boxes with chosen ornamentation. Ornamentation needs to cover, to some degree, each of the 5 visible sides. Students will construct a usable handle and cut an interlocking lid. Ability of lid to comfortably connect with box will be a significant portion of grade.
