by effectively “translating” the words on the page into an
understandable format.

meanings of words.

Daily Objective: I will be able to construct meaning while reading a
complex text and analyze it further by making inferences and
providing support for my assertions.

and use textual evidence to support understanding.
How will we learn it?
Learning Activities:
1. Recite the prologue.
2. Read Act 3, Scene 1 & add “character foil” and “pun” to
our academic vocabulary notes

Assessment Methods:
This essay is for a grade. I will grade it using the STAAR
rubric provided by TEA. Students will be aware of this
rubric as well.
Checks for Understanding:
I time each part of the essay after we brainstorm and
discuss the prompt for ten minutes.
Intro: 4 minutes
Paragraph 1: 10 minutes
Paragraph 2: 10 minutes
Conclusion: 4 minutes
We then label topic sentences, concrete details, and
commentary.
