2. Read Act 3, Scene 1 (Guided Notes) & add “character
foil” and “pun” to our academic vocabulary notes

complex text and analyze it further by making inferences and
providing support for my assertions.

Assessment Methods:
This essay is for a grade. I will grade it using the STAAR
rubric provided by TEA. Students will be aware of this
rubric as well.
Checks for Understanding:
I time each part of the essay after we brainstorm and
discuss the prompt for ten minutes.
Intro: 4 minutes
Paragraph 1: 10 minutes
Paragraph 2: 10 minutes
Conclusion: 4 minutes
We then label topic sentences, concrete details, and
commentary.
