Tuesday Activities 1. Do Now- Take out a pencil and scantron. 2. Gilded Age Test- Students will complete a multiple-choice assessment over Unit 1. Guided Notes: Progressive Reforms- Students will take notes over specific Progressive reforms including initiative, referendum, recall, the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th amendments. 3. Cooperative Learning: Progressive Era Reformers and Muckrakers- Students will read selected articles reflecting the work of one leader of the Progressive Era. Each group will then create a poster highlighting the accomplishments of their assigned reformer or muckraker. Students will then complete a gallery walk to gather information on all reformers. I can define reform and muckraking and identify and evaluate the impact of Upton Sinclair, Susan B. Anthony, Ida B. Wells, W.E.B. DuBois, Frances Willard, and Jane Addams as reform leaders and muckrakers. I can define/describe initiative, referendum, recall, the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th amendments, and the Pure Food and Drug Act and evaluate the impact of these Progressive reforms on American society. I can identify Teddy Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and Woodrow Wilson as progressive U.S. Presidents and tell how their domestic policy reflected Progressive reforms.
