MMA COURSE DESCRIPTION
Students use algebraic, graphical, and geometric reasoning to recognize patterns and structure, to model
information, and to solve problems from various disciplines. Students use mathematical methods and
procedures to model and solve real-life applied problems involving money, data, chance, patterns, music,
design and science. Students will use mathematical ideas from algebra, geometry and basic probability, to
solve problems from a wide variety of applications in both mathematical and nonmathematical contexts.
Additionally, the course will strengthen and reinforce essential math skills and concepts necessary to be
successful in Algebra 2, SAT & ACT Math, College Algebra, and beyond.
RESOURCES
Students will use a variety of tools within this course. Among these tools are a variety of representations
(concrete, pictorial, numerical, symbolic and graphical), and various types of technology, including
