Overview
Greetings! I am excited to work with your student this semester in advanced theatre. This year we will be Competing
in the UIL One- Act Play competition, the Junior International Thespian Society, and three levels of theatre classes
(Beginning, intermediate, and advanced for high school credit).
This class is for high school credit. All STUDENTS MUST PASS ALL CLASSES WITH 70 OR ABOVE TO
PARTICIPATE. Students who are not passing will still be tested on lines. This course is graded VERY harshly
and required total commitment from students AND PARENTS.
Students will explore higher level thinking as they develop a deeper understanding of literature, theatre mechanics,
and theatrical design, history, acting theory, elements of theatre production, and playwriting.
Course Goals and Learning Outcomes
Each student will take part in a production performed for the UIL One Act Play Competition at West Briar MS on
(Friday) NOV. 13th. Buses will be provided. If our play advanced to District competition, we will perform again at
West Briar MS on Nov. 21. I will give more details as they are available. Further, all students will perform after
school at 6pm on Dec.8,10,11th.

under all costumes during performances. Tech crew may wear black jeans or pants and
a plain black t-shirt during performances.

Grading Procedures
 Conduct and participation grades
 Assignments are to be returned and inputted into Grade Speed within five (5) school days
 Late work is to be accepted with reduced points. Refer to the school handbook for late work policies as specified by
grade level
 Formative assessments shall not be factored into the course grade
 Ensure a minimum of three (3) assessment opportunities per nine weeks. Projects and presentations count toward
test grades.
Outside learning opportunities: will be available school-wide through the Drama Club.
