THE SHIRLEY CASTELNUOVO MEMORIAL
Scholarship
In Political Science
Scholarship Criteria:






Available to undergraduate juniors, seniors, or graduate students
enrolled at Northeastern Illinois University, in good academic standing,
with a declared major in Political Science.
Minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale required.
Completed NEIU Foundation scholarship application required (see
below).
Two letters of recommendation, one of which is from an NEIU Political
Science faculty member.
Submission of a “Personal Statement” of three pages, addressing both
of the following:
o Identify one major problem in your community, school, culture,
or society, and provide a plausible solution or remedy to solve
this problem.
o Identify your career objectives and explain how obtaining a
degree in Political Science is related to these objectives.
Note: The major donors direct that when possible preference will be
given to students who concentrate in Political Theory, and/or to
veterans of the United States Armed Forces, and/or to students with
previous internship and/or work experience.
