ESW Open Seminar Series SOCIAL WORK Monday 17th October, 5pm Room 104, Fulton Building, University of Sussex, Falmer (www.sussex.ac.uk/aboutus/findus/campusmaps.php) Speaker Professor Debbie Plath, University of Newcastle, Australia presents: “Implementing Evidence-Based Practice in Human Services: An Australian national study” ____________________________________ In Australia, social work and human services face expectations to provide evidence for practice. Questions remain, however, about the appropriateness and adequacy of an evidencebased practice model for these disciplines. Professor Plath presents the findings of a national survey conducted in Australia of the attitudes and experiences of social workers across the country regarding the use of research evidence in practice, and how evidence-based practice has been implemented. The implementation of evidence-based practice is shaped by organisational culture, resources, information systems, networks and workforce skills. Findings from an organisational case study will also be drawn upon to illustrate the factors that support and impede the implementation of evidence-based practice within complex organisational contexts. * Refreshments available from 5pm ** The seminar is available to join via live web streaming at: https//connectpro.sussex.ac.uk/swplath17oct
