Who can apply?
RinR is open to applications from:
• Secondary schools and 6th form colleges
• Research Council and Wellcome Trust-funded researchers
RinR placements cover:
• ALL subjects – STEM and non-STEM
• 11 – 19 age group

What is a placement?
• An innovative project that extends/ adds value to the curriculum
• Key Stage or across year groups
• Up to 24 hours duration per year
• Flexible – week(s), term, school year
• Includes lessons, after-school clubs, lab visits, outreach
• Results showcased on RinR website

What is a placement?
St Julian’s School, eco-club
• Eco-club to help school achieve it’s first green flag
• Every Thursday 3.30pm-4.30pm for seven weeks
• Targeted at Key-Stage 3 so open to year 7-9 pupils
• Students conduct surveys of the school grounds, collect information
on waste energy and water use.
• Looking through bins at what is and isn’t recycled
• Students document what they have found reporting back to school
• Since project researcher involved in a number of other knowledge
exchange and community outreach projects.
