2010 Wellcome 5-day residential training course in oral history. First presented in 1990, the five-day residential has become a well established feature in oral history as well as the history of medicine and health policy in Britain. It remains the only course of its kind in the UK in an expanding area of academic - and increasingly community-based – study. Participants on the five-day residential course have mainly been researchers at the beginning of their first oral history study, although we welcome more experienced researchers. Such studies are often Wellcome-funded, although we also attract preapplicants, and researchers funded by other bodies including the Economic and Social Research Council and the Leverhulme Trust. The course makes a significant contribution to preparing researchers in their own diverse projects; projects that draw upon a range of lay and professional recollections of experiences, health policies and medical practices. This year’s course will take place at Royal Holloway, University of London near Egham: http://www.rhul.ac.uk/Visitors-Guide/ Monday 14th to Friday 18th June. Course fees, accommodation and meals are all covered by the Wellcome Trust’s generosity. Please note that demand for places on the course is high and places are limited (to 10 participants this year). Nominations for the course should be sent to: Dr Graham Smith Senior Lecturer in Oral History graham.smith@rhul.ac.uk Department of History, RHUL MC302B - McCrea Building 01784 414 962
