COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is a continuation of PE 140A and is designed to present each student with intermediate health
knowledge of skills and fitness concepts needed for healthy living. Each student will continue on a fitness
program involving aerobics, stretching and strength development, which will meet his/her individual needs.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate correct posture.
2. Analyze remedial posture defects.
3. Show an increase in flexibility.
4. Demonstrate general muscle tone with special attention to certain muscles of the body, i.e., abdominal
muscles.
5. Demonstrate an increase in aerobic capacity
6. Analyze some misconceptions about what exercise will or will not do.
7. Describe the role of diet and exercise. Also describe the control of weight, both overweight and
underweight.
8. Demonstrate the relaxation response.
