COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course covers automotive chassis systems including steering, suspension, brakes, and wheel
alignment. This also includes tire service, wheel balancing, driveline and undercar service with
emphasis on safety and professional practice. The proper use of applicable shop equipment is
stressed. This course will assist students in preparing for the ASE Brakes (A5) and Suspension and
Steering (A4) examinations.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the completion of the course the student will be able to:
Earn certification in SP-2 Safety & Pollution Prevention
Demonstrate an understanding of automotive chassis systems, and of their effects on vehicle performance
Inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair automotive braking system
Inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair automotive steering and suspension systems
Replace, repair, and balance tires & wheels
Diagnose the causes of abnormal handling, tire wear and vibration
Perform both two and four wheel alignments
