A researcher wanted to examine the effect of taking aspirin on headache relief. Below is
the data from her experiment where she had subjects take aspirin when they had a
headache compared to a headache when they did not take aspirin. The numbers represent
the amount of time that it took before the headache went away. Did this experimenter
find a significant effect? Interpret and analyze the data.

Another researcher wanted to examine the factors that are linked with drug use. He
believes that the age that people first take an illegal drug is linked with how many times
they will end up incarcerated in their life. Below are the data. First determine whether
there is a significant correlation in the data. Then, determine whether people that take an
illegal drug prior to the age of 18 are more likely to end up in jail (more times in jail)
compared to those that took an illegal substance after the age of 18. To complete this
problem, you will be doing two different analyses.

An experimenter wanted to determine whether there were equal numbers of males and
females in each major within the social sciences. She found that in anthropology there
were 18 males and 23 females. In psychology there were 23 males and 13 females. In
sociology, there were 14 males and 30 females. Conduct her analysis and interpret her
data.
A researcher was interested in whether the degree that someone graduates with will have
an effect on the amount of money they end up making. The data presented below are in
thousands of dollars. So a 19 below means that they made 19,000 dollars. Does an
education lead to an increase in amount of money earned?
