1. Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Attach an organizational chart with positions, ranges, and names for the division which reflects the position in it as well as those supervised in the department. (This section is

The Web Developer within University Marketing and Communications - Integrated Marketing reports to the Manager, Application Development. The Web Developer is primarily responsible for translating approved website designs and prototypes into standardsbased websites within the University’s content management system (CMS). With a focus on “back-end” programming, the position proactively manages the CMS and related administration and quality assurance activities. The position also consults on the integration of other web-based technologies and manages student interns as needed.

50% - Website Development and Maintenance
Collaborate with Integrated Marketing colleagues in planning and strategizing websites that achieve organizational objectives.
Take approved designs and prototypes and develop them into standards-based websites, programming within the University’s content management system (CMS).
Create necessary schemas, templates and style sheets that pass relevant validation tests and are accessible to disabled users.
Develop and debug programming code related to custom requests
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with third-party applications
25% - CMS Administration and Training
Manage users, groups and relevant security and permissions
Offer regular CMS training to new and current users
Develop and maintain a comprehensive CMS user manual
20% - Quality Assurance and Project Closeout
Work with Central IT to launch new CMS websites and ensure smooth transition of website maintenance to appropriate personnel
Perform quality assurance activities relating to websites within the CMS
(e.g. broken links, spelling errors, accessibility concerns, etc.)
Participate in meetings with partners to ensure objectives and goals have been met
5% - Research, Development and Training
Research other institutions to assess best practices in higher education web design
Manage student interns as needed
