Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Specialist, Desktop Application is responsible for application support and web site maintenance for the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Division. This individual acts as a liaison between DAR and Desktop Services support in Information Technology (IT) to facilitate computer software/hardware troubleshooting, network connectivity issues, and peripheral configuration and connectivity issues. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 60% - Application Support Provide application support for the personal computers and peripheral equipment Support software applications on a daily basis including answering questions and troubleshooting problems Provide technical assistance to staff with application software Act as a liaison between DAR and Desktop Services to resolve PC hardware, software install/upgrade issues, network connectivity, and peripheral configuration issues Perform and maintain yearly hardware (computers, peripherals, etc) & departmental software inventory 30%- Website Maintenance Maintain departmental websites using web development tools including update content, update navigation structure, test and troubleshoot problems 10% - Training Train Development & Alumni Relations employees in the use of fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge), general ledger (Financial Edge), MS Office Suite, Crystal Reports, and Adobe Acrobat and Contribute in both group and one on one training environments 3.
