Description: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force
frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary
work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

The Senior Accountant, Post Award, supports the Office of Sponsored Project activities by
preparing accurate and timely reports for the university, handling the pre-close out program,
assisting with drawdowns, tracking cost share, assisting with collection of debt and serving as
the back-up for the Post Award Manager.
The position is critical to expanding post-award services to researchers by implementing a preclose out program and services which assist faculty with managing their grants effectively.

50% - Pre-close Out Program Management
 Establish, implement, and manage the pre-close out program
 Analyze grant accounts that are ending within the next six months to assist faculty with
budgeting issues
 Advise and coordinate with faculty with pre-close out program issues
 Protects university interests by reviewing and researching Federal regulations and
sponsor requirements related to project deliverables and close-out processes
 Communicates changes in regulations and campus procedures associated with project
deliverables to university personnel, including the Office of Sponsored Projects
 Serves as the point person to assist the PI with his/her submission of reports by
clarifying procedures and/or agency requirements
 Advises PIs on identifying appropriate documentation necessary to complete the closeout process
 Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to project deliverables and project close-out
 Responds to any external queries involving specific closeout deliverables

30% - Reporting
 Query and analyze award and expenditure data for trends, risks, etc. and respond
accordingly (e.g., coordinate activities with PIs; implement new post-award services in
response to trends, etc.)
 Prepare monthly and annual award/expenditure reports for Institutional, Federal and
Carnegie classification purposes
 Prepare Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) document for A-133 audit
 Generate data and complete the required annual National Science Foundation (NSF)
survey
10% - Drawdowns and Federal Financial Reports
 Process electronic letter of credit drawdowns
 Process quarterly and final electronic federal financial reports
10% - Cost Share and Special Projects
 Manage cost sharing documentation and reporting
 Manage post-award functions in absence of manager
 Participate with collection efforts
 Participate in the development of policies, manuals and trainings of OSP staff in post
award issues
 Assist with audits

The incumbent works autonomously with minimal oversight from the Post Award Manager. The
incumbent has the freedom to advise and consult with campus users in terms of the status of
awards. However, other duties may require review and delegation of assignments by the Post
Award Manager or the Assistant Vice President, Research Administration.

progression, describe the supervisory consultation at the highest level.
The Senior Accountant works closely with the Post Award Manager and the Assistant Vice
President, Research Administration to develop procedures that will be implemented to establish
the pre-close out program to assist faculty earlier in the grant close out process. Issues that
arise during the implementation of this new program will need to be discussed with the Post
Award Manager and the Assistant Vice President, Research Administration. Any issues outside
of precedent will need to be discussed with the Post Award Manager and the Assistant Vice
President, Research Administration.
