Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Manager, Information and Database Administration, is responsible for the design, implementation and management of databases, data warehouse, and various layers of the business intelligence and reporting architecture in support of customers. The incumbent manages the data warehouse unit within Information Technology. This includes oversight of data warehouse development, daily functionality, management of related software applications and supervision of staff. Additionally, the Manager is the principal Oracle database administrator. The Manager reports to the Director, Information Technology. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Level of Freedom: The Manager, Information and Database Administration is responsible for the data backbone of key university systems. The Manager makes daily decisions that optimize the performance of the system, provide security access and ensure the availability of systems. Oversight of the data warehouse group allows for strategic planning and change management related to the implementation of new data sources and systems. The Manager works with the Director, Information Technology and the management team in strategic planning and on resource needs. Impact: Decisions affect the stability, performance, and integrity of data, having long reaching effects for business planning. Daily administration of the system affects faculty and staff throughout the university. Inadequate performance of the duties may result in system outages, slow system performance, planning errors, data quality and/or access issues. These issues would have a direct impact on the decision-making and business planning of the institution. 4.
