and how the results of the work performed impact the department, division and/or the

Level of Freedom:
The Director must be able to operate independently, making program decisions while keeping
management and staff aware and informed. The Director must be very conscious of safety and liability

all student wages, administrative faculty, and all equipment and operating expenses. The overall
budget is up to $1,700,000 annually depending upon the size and scope of construction projects.
CRW provides an atmosphere where students can develop physical skills and practice responsible
decision making. This program is an avenue to lifetime participation in sports, fitness, and outdoor
adventure.
Impact:
Ongoing assessment is critical to strategic planning and quality program development. While CRW
programs contain a high degree of risk, they also bring substantial amount of publicity to the
University due to the quality and visibility of the programs. CRW programs are known to play a key
role in recruitment and retention and contribute to the development of the student individual socially,
emotionally, and physically, by offering positive leisure-time activities. CRW helps the University
complete its mission to “meet the needs of the citizens of Nevada.” Specifically, it meets the goal to
“provide an institutional environment supportive of the internal quality of campus life.”
