Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. The Coordinator of Service Learning is the primary contact person to promote, design, develop, oversee, and implement an academic service learning (and civic engagement) program at the University of Nevada, Reno. The Coordinator assists community partners, faculty, and students to develop service partnerships, collaborates with academic units on campus to integrate servicelearning in the curriculum, promotes service-learning opportunities across campus, maintains files and tracks student learning participation, and organizes service events on campus. The position reports to the Director, Service Learning and Civic Engagement. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Level of Freedom: Under the direction of the Director, Service Learning and Civic Engagement, the position helps to develop and carry forth the strategic goals of the program. On a day-to-day basis, the Coordinator has considerable autonomy in decision-making regarding daily operations. The Coordinator is expected to make recommendations on resource needs, goals and assessment of the program to the Director. Impact: If the incumbent performs responsibilities and achieves goals of the program, then students will have a more enriching educational experience and the University’s reputation will be enhanced in the community and nation-wide. If the incumbent is unsuccessful in performing the duties of the position, then students will lose valuable co-learning educational opportunities outside the traditional campus setting, jeopardizing both the student’s learning potential and the University’s reputation. 4.
