level of freedom to take action and make decisions. Often the support of faculty and students using
technology during a class requires quick assessment and decisive action. In longer term support
efforts, consultation with more technically oriented colleagues and the Instructional Technology
Manager is expected.
The Coordinator has freedom to make decisions regarding day-to-day administrative responsibilities
within established standards and departmental guidelines. All decisions related to policy making,
development and implementation of new systems, planning and project development and related
activities are made in collaboration with colleagues and managers. The successful operation of the
department and wise use of resources depend upon the individual’s analytical skills, the quality of
performance and, at times, their ability to make independent decisions and show good judgment.
Impact:
Instructional Technology support in classrooms is critical to the success of the instructional
component of the University's land-grant mission. In both the quick support call and long-term support
activities, performance has a direct impact on the quality of teaching and learning.
Teaching and Learning Technologies invests several hundred thousand dollars per year in classroom
technology. Proper planning, equipment specifications and pricing, maintenance and service of
equipment, and inventory control are essential to proper asset management and fiscal responsibility.
The position serves as a nexus point that keeps workflows steady and free of bottlenecks. Logistics,
work order management and student training and technology scheduling/administration all impact the
availability and performance of classroom technology, and thus the quality of the teaching and
learning experience.
